Q: Hi, Doc, I have hypoglycemia associated with candida. Am I safe to take olive leaf extract.
A: Yes, you are safe, as long as you do not have an allergy to the olive leaf product. Olive leaf is a potent herb so you might want to start out with a small dose to see how you will respond. Don't overlook the Hypoglycemia and Yeast discussions elsewhere on this web site.

Q: How do you know which vitamins; a,b,c should you order. My son has been misdiagnosed for 9 years with adhd and it seems it has been asperger's all along. I am looking for some supplements.
A: Contact the Kirkman company and ask for their Biomedical and Dietary Intervention Beginner's Guide. Also, my book Autism: From Symptoms to Solutions has all the answers you seek and will be published next month. Watch this site for details

Q: What is a good place to start in being a holistic practitioner or consultant? There are no schools in my area and my only option is online studies. My goal is learning to heal myself, and then to help share my learned and experienced knowledge with others to help them with their goals. Thank you.
A: Great question. It depends on your interests and what your gifts are. If you like chemistry and nutrition I would recommend naturopathy. If you like working with your hands you could be a chiropractor and specialize in internal disorders and nutrition. In this health care climate where the government is out to make it very difficult to practice any type of medicine, I would choose naturopathy. Why? Because health insurance doesn't cover naturopathy and all the patients pay cash. Most doctors dream of a cash practice but will never see one. These professions all have schools around the country. For naturopathy, the best one is Bastyr University. I would avoid online "schools" because they have no accreditation and you get what you pay for. Good luck.

Q: I have three children (ages 10-14), they are all allergic to peanuts, nuts, eggs, and milk. (Only one can tolerate milk.) Is there any alternative to help them outgrow these allergies other than a complete avoidance diet?
A: I am told, though I can't confirm it by experience, that if they can completely, without so much as a sniff, avoid the foods, they will improve in 6 months. Be sure and study all the Food Allergy information on my web site. Another thought is to look into homeopathy. Homeopaths have some remedies which will help your children build their immune systems. Good luck, Let me know how it goes.

Q: I have been diagnosed with Wilson's Syndrome by an alternative doctor . I am afraid to take T3 because I started it and I got floaters in my eyes. They do not go away. I feel faint now at the gym and so exhausted after I eat breakfast I can hardly stand. I have always been extremely active and energetic and slim. I was always 118-125 lbs now I am 138! I am 5'6' tall and have suffered the loss of my only child, my daughter in 2009 and now my partner who supports me is threatening to leave because of my grief. How can I get rid of this sluggishness. My Dr gave me a 'natural, non animal T3 (supposedly)but I haven't taken it or my temperature yet.
A: My first impression is that you may have been a little too quick to not use the T3. Floaters can be caused by other issues such as candidiasis and liver issues. Be sure to read about Wilson's Syndrome and all these other possible underlying conditions on the links I have provided. I would definitely take the Comprehensive Health Assessment which will help you identify underlying health conditions that may be contributing to the thyroid problem.
