CBS News Uncovers Swine Flu Hype

CBS News has recently reported on the swine flu statistics which have been manipulated or erroneously reported.  Since the impending pandemic was initially reported upon last spring, many have been skeptical of the veracity of the statistics used to document the fearsome dangers to accompany the swine flu. Led by investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson, CBS has reported the following stats which are not nearly as frightening as the media has been telling us:

In Florida, of all flu cases confirmed by appropriate lab tests, only 17% were swine flu and 83% were not flu at all but rather were flu-like symptoms of unknown viral or bacterial origin.

In California, of all flu cases confirmed by appropriate lab tests, only 2% were swine flu, 12% were seasonal flu from other viral strains and 86% were not flu at all but rather were flu-like symptoms of unknown viral or bacterial origin.

In Alaska, of all flu cases confirmed by appropriate lab tests, only 1% were swine flu, 5% seasonal flu and 93% were not flu at all but rather were flu-like symptoms of unknown viral or bacterial origin.

In Georgia, only 2% of all flu cases confirmed by appropriate lab tests were H1N1 and 97% were negative for H1N1.

Infant Hepatitis B Vaccine Triples Autism Risk

A new study published in the Annals of Epidemiology September 2009: 19(9); 659 has implicated the Hepatitis B vaccine as increasing austism risk by a factor of three. The vaccine is routinely given to newborn infants within hours of birth. This comes as news to the healthcare industry. The greater issue is this; Were there no studies testing the vaccine for the autism connection? Of course there were not. Most children who develop autism are completely normal up to the age of 12 months or so. Then, to the shock of their parents, they regress into autism. That's a long term study issue and none were done. So let's apply this information to the current swine flu vaccine. The vaccine was hurriedly "tested" just this summer. We have NO IDEA what the long-term implications will be. Study the other side of the story before you roll up your sleeve. Check other information on the subject here.

Autism, ADHD incidence on NONVACCINATED children

Finally, we have what would seem to have been a logical study years ago, a comparison of neurological disorders (ND)in vaccinated children vs. nonvaccinated children. We who have long questioned why the absence of such studies have had our suspicions confirmed with a recent study, interestingly, NOT published by the National Institutes of Health. You can get the details at Homefirst.com. The writers summerized their findings thus:

We surveyed over 9,000 boys in California and Oregon and found that vaccinated boys had a 155% greater chance of having a neurological disorder like ADHD or autism than unvaccinated boys.-Generation Rescue, June 26, 2007

Study Links ADHD Stimulant Drugs to Sudden Death

A study published in the American Journal of Psychiatry suggests certain stimulant medications used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder may cause sudden death, unexplained death, adding to previous reports emphasizing the potential dangers of such medications. The study evaluated 564 children and teenagers ages 7-19 who died unexpectedly but had no known history of life-threatening illness or defined cause of death.

In their conclusion the authors state: "This study reports a significant association or signal between sudden unexplained death and the use of stimulant medication, specifically methylphenidate" (Ritalin and Concerta). We urge all our readers who have any concern about ADHD children to study carefully the ADHD pages of this website.

Look to the Environment in Autism

From the L.A. Times: Researchers at the UC Davis M.I.N.D. Institute have concluded that the seven- to eightfold increase in the number of children with autism born in California since 1990 cannot be explained by changes in how the condition is diagnosed or how statistics are gathered. Instead, the study, published in the current issue of the journal Epidemiology, suggests research on the cause of the neurodevelopmental disorder should shift to the environment. "It's time to start looking for the environmental culprits responsible for the remarkable increase in the rate of autism in California," a co-author of the paper, Irva Hertz-Picciotto, said in a news release. "Right now, about 10 to 20 times more research dollars are spent on studies of the genetic causes of autism than on environmental ones. We need to even out the funding." We couldn't agree more. Environment of course includes immunizations.
